America in the Prophets

The question has been repeatedly asked, and that, too, with surprise,

How is it that such a vast country as the United States of America finds no place in the Prophetic Word?

The answer generally given has been that it is because she has no part in the divine programme until the time arrives for all nations to bow before the Lord.

We think, however, that Americans are included in the “Young Lions” of Ezek. xxxviii. 13, and so we said long before she entered the arena of the “Great War” in the year 1917. In the first edition of “Palestine and the Powers” (1914), we wrote:

“We have not the slightest doubt that in due course the United States will take her place among the young lions. What more becoming than to see the English-speaking races of the world one great, united family?”

And so it came to pass.
