The Old and New Blog

Very old and newer old texts of value and pointing to one man

The Nazarene Jeshua, better known as Jesus Christ, told many stories or parables and spend a lot of time explaining the older texts which were known to many. Today not many know those older texts, they even often do not know the New testament texts. Some would just like to see those old stories from the Old Testament to be considered as just nice narratives, fairy tales or stories not to be taken as fact presenting.

The disciples of Jesus saw clearly why it was important to keep acknowledgeable of the Old Hebrew Scriptures. They were continuously, in their writings, applying the incidents of Old Testament times to the work of Christ. It is only reasonable to expect that God’s purpose in Christ will appear in all aspects of the divine program — in the forms of nature, in the history of Israel as a nation, and in the life stories of the characters of the Scriptures.

There can be no doubt at all that the work of Jesus, in one of its many aspects, is to be read all through the Old Testament -by direct prophecy, by indirect prophecy with secondary applications to him, in moral principles of the law, in the symbolism of the tabernacle and the temple.

All the Bible points to one glorious idea: the redemption of men through Christ, and the glory of God in him. We should be disappointed if we cannot, in our readings, find many allusions to this idea. The Bible contains many threads of thought, which may need to be considered individually but all the threads are interwoven and connected, and they all ultimately return to Christ our Saviour.

In the Holy Scriptures we can find Jesus bringing God’s Words to the newer generation. The second Adam (Christ Jesus) is the one who is now taken out of death to come and sit at the right hand of God, so that he may be the mediator between God and man.

“the LORD said to my lord, sit on my right until I make your enemies your footstool for your feet?” (Matthew 22:44 MKJV)

“but being full of [the] holy spirit, looking up intently into heaven, he saw the glory of god, and jesus standing at the right hand of god.” (Acts 7:55 MKJV)

“but this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down [on the] right of god,” (Hebrews 10:12 MKJV)

“and to jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than [that of] Abel.” (Hebrews 12:24 MKJV)

“for god [is] one, and [there is] one mediator of god and of men, [the] man christ jesus,” (1 Timothy 2:5 MKJV)

“Scripture is the royal chariot in which Jesus rides, and it is paved with love for the daughters of Jerusalem. The Scriptures are the swaddling bands of the holy child Jesus; unroll them and you find your Saviour. The quintessence of the word of God is Christ” (CHS).

  • A Must Know Truth (christapoet.wordpress.com)
If the books (especially the religious books) about the creation of the universe should be carefully read and considered, everyone truthful person would come to this one conclusion, that it is only the Holy Bible that has clearly spoken of every happening in every generation. Other religious books have only majorly spoken more on their codes of conduct, and ways of worship. Some might have said some things about God and the creation, but surely never without some contradictions and ambiguities. Some scientific books have also tried to explain the creation, but none with a substantial fact.
  • Deuteronomy 4- Is God in Close Proximity? (inchristalonedevotions.wordpress.com)
God reveals to us why we should obey His laws. In this case His people by obeying they would demonstrate to other nations the “wisdom” and “understanding” that the Lord had blessed them with. Another nations would be attracted to them and would want to learn about this great nation; surely they would eventually come to know the reason that this people are great is because the have a Great God. Therefore, a purpose to follow God laws is for a witnessing/evangelistic tool to bring people to get to know God the Creator, who is the source of wisdom and understanding.
  • October 2013 Review (ourfathershavetoldus.wordpress.com)
Anytime we don’t trust God by faith, that unbelief flows out of an evil heart. Scripture tells us that those who reject the Creator sink into ever deeper levels of ignorance, all the while claiming that they are wise: “because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened” (Romans 1:21).
  • Beginning at the Beginning (kellertxdad.com)
Many tend to perceive Jesus as the middle of the story of man. We mark history according to His birth (Before Christ; Anno Domini). Some shy away from the Old Testament and its books of history, poetry, and prophecy incorrectly presuming that it has nothing to do with Christ; after all, He is not formally introduced until the Gospels, right? Some view Jesus as God’s “Plan B” with the Old Testament describing God’s failed “Plan A”. It is this flawed human logic that leads some skeptics to ask why I place my faith and trust in this Jesus. It is this flawed human logic that leads many believers in Christ to the conclusion that God’s Word is subject to amendment at man’s will and whimsy.

We should carefully read that Word of God, given to us in the Holy Scriptures, the Bible. To get to knowledge and to find the Truth we should dare to put away our previously learned denominational catechism or church teachings. Looking at the words black on white taking them for what they stand we shall see the light and find insight.
