Creator and Blogger God 2 Image and likeness

History of the development

Creating into His image according to His likeness

Spitting image

Once God spoke everything He said became true. As Creator He was totally in charge, but He wanted to make somebody else who was in His image, reflecting His nature, which naturally would not make that person being the same person as Him. God created human beings; he created them godlike, reflecting God’s nature. He created them male and female. So when the first or the second Adam were created in God’s image they did not become Adam god nor Jesus god. They could be considered to have the same DNA as their Creator but would never be the same person as their Maker, like the sculpted likeness or the image on the photograph could never be or become the person which it depicted, even when it got the spitting image of the Father or the mother. As we still say today about a child that it is the dead spit of her mother or a carbon copy of the father, those children shall never be considered to be the same person as their parents, so likewise for Adam, Eve, Michael, Abraham, David, Jesus, or anybody who had to become like Jesus or to take on the armour of God.

Being in the image of God they also received power of their Creator, like God was giving the program, the right to direct and steer everything. God His Word made the making of fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle, and, yes, earth itself, and every animal that moves on it. God blessed the human creatures and told them to prosper, reproduce and fill the earth. The animals could reproduce but it were man who could take charge and be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air, for every living thing that moves on the face of earth. Because it was God who spoke and gave the task to name everything and to take care of every sort of seed-bearing plant on earth and every kind of fruit-bearing tree, which was given them to their food.

“26 and god said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness. and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the heavens, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over all the creepers creeping on the earth. 27 and god created man in his image; in the image of god he created him. he created them male and female. 28 and god blessed them. and god said to them, be fruitful, and multiply and fill the earth, and subdue it. and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the heavens, and all animals that move upon the earth. 29  and god said, behold! I have given you every herb seeding seed which [is] upon the face of all the earth, and every tree in which [is the] fruit of a tree seeding seed; to you it shall be for food. 30 and to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the heavens, and to every creeper on the earth which [has] in it a living soul every green plant [is] for food; and it was so.” (Genesis 1:26-30 MKJV)

Master teacher

Being created out of the dust of the earth, in His image, those moving, got the Breath of life in them by Jehovah God the Creator so that they themselves could breath and move around being directed by this Spirit Who taught them counsel. They had no other expert to go to for advice than their Creator. There were no schools to attend to learn justice. God was the first Master Teacher Who taught man what he knows, showed him how things work.

“7 and Jehovah god formed man [of the] dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. 8  and Jehovah god planted a garden eastward in Eden. and there he put the man whom he had formed. 9 and out of the ground Jehovah god caused to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food. the tree of life also was in the middle of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.” (Genesis 2:7-9 MKJV)

“and so it is written, “the first man, Adam, became a living soul,” the last Adam was a life-giving spirit.” (1 Corinthians 15:45 MKJV)

“13 who has directed the spirit of Jehovah, and what man taught him counsel? 14 with whom did he take counsel, and [who] instructed him and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and made known the way of understanding to him?” (Isaiah 40:13-14 MKJV)

  • In The Image of God (dearbelovedsister.wordpress.com)
I came into the understanding that it speaks more of function than of physical description.
    +
Hebrew preposition translated “in” can mean “as,” which denotes function or status: humanity was created “as” the image of God rather than “in” His image. It helps to think of “image” as a verb: humans are created as God’s imagers – they function as God’s representatives. According to this view, the image of God is not a quality within human beings; it is what humans are. Every human, regardless of its stage of development, is an imager of God. This imaging is neither incremental nor partial, nor does it derive from a physical or spiritual ability; rather it derives from being created “as” God’s image.” (Michael S. Heiser, The Image of God)
  • Image of God, Loving Relationship and Creation Care (interiorcastle8.wordpress.com)
Delfo Canceran offers a stunning reflection on the Image of God as articulated in the creation narratives in Genesis. In a 2011 issue of the Asia Journal of Theology, he sets out to redeem the patristic, male-centric rendering and interpretations of the creation narrative and full humanity of all humanity resulting from God’s creative activity.
  • Do You Know What the Image of God Is. (pdjhudonblog.wordpress.com)
Working In the Spirit, we must climb to the spirit, and it must be of and by the spirit for us to be doing Gods Work. Our work is allowing The God in us to work in us a work of salvation, which is set out for us to do, and He will bring the increase, not us if we force the growth to come by our own subtlety.
  • Self-Portrait of God (officiallyjoel.wordpress.com)
  • Genesis 1 (abiblechapteraday.wordpress.com)
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

  • The Prize of Being Created (euthetoschurch.wordpress.com)
Man is dignified because mankind was created in the image of God. Think about that. The very basic imprint of mankind is patterned after an eternal image, an infinite image. Somehow God made a finite and temporal creature carry an infinite and eternal image.
  • Sermon Imago Dei 2 (theoceanindar.wordpress.com)
part of being created in the image of God is being creations who are capable of deep emotions. That if we want to have a deep intimate relationship with God and others, we have to be comfortable with deep emotions.
  • Our Image in God (wordjat.wordpress.com)
Could it be true that the devil has had us look at our image in a cracked mirrow for so long that we tend to believe that image is true, and fail to see the ‘new man’ that God has made?
