Emptiness, darkness and light – Photo: AS990

When we want to buy a stationary or a portable computer, First all the material to make it has to be searched for, put together, formatted and programmed or otherwise we would be just sitting with empty boxes which could do nothing.

From the black hole, the emptiness or darkness the Creator of the universe also had to create the raw/base material. After He provided the commodity He could bring the ingredients together, botch them together, format them but also had to program them. Without programming the machine, it would not do much and could not do much. There had also to be a source of information for all the programs to be working properly and a date carrier to hold up all the information to provide the working sources. So first this Sublime Master Former who received the title God created the Heavens and Earth — all you see, all you don’t see. It was later that He let us know that earth was a soup of nothingness, a bottomless emptiness, an inky blackness. God’s Spirit brooded like a bird above the watery abyss. Jehovah, is how His Name is of this Creator, spoke. And when His Voice sounded over the emptiness it resounded and made into being. The names of the things He shouted came into existence. Because the void, the emptiness was dark, the Creator called for light first. And light appeared. God saw that light was good and separated light from dark. God named the light Day, he named the dark Night. It was evening, it was morning and so the first day was formed and the Creator continued from day to day to create what we now call the universe.

When God began to create the heaven and the earth – the earth being unformed and void, with darkness over the surface of the deep and a wind from God sweeping over the water –  …  . (Torah)

“1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 And the earth was waste and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep: and the Spirit of God {1} moved upon the face of the waters. {1) Or [was brooding upon]} 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.” (Genesis 1:1-5 ASV)

From stillness until moving things

God created the earth deciding on its size and came up with the blueprints and measurements. He decided how its foundation was poured, and Who set the cornerstone, and Who took charge of the ocean when it gushed forth. He was the One Who wrapped it in soft clouds, and tucked it in safely at night, He fixed limits by making boundaries, bars, a bolt and doors for it, a strong playpen so it couldn’t run loose because of its fixed limits, and created the sun to bring everything to light, to bring out all the colours and shapes. In His decreed place the Creator continued to work on His creation and brought living, moving beings in it, just by letting His Spirit (His Force) coming over everything.

So from the void there was the Creator who used His voice to make everything.

“1 in the beginning god created the heavens and the earth. 2 and the earth was without form and empty. and darkness [was] on the face of the deep. and the spirit of god moved on the face of the waters. 3  and god said, let there be light. and there was light. 4 and god saw the light that [it was] good. and god divided between the light and the darkness. 5 and god called the light, day. and he called the darkness, night. and the evening and the morning were the first day.” (Genesis 1:1-5 MKJV)

“I looked on the earth, and, lo, [it was] without form and void; and the heavens, and they [had] no light.” (Jeremiah 4:23 MKJV)

“4 where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? tell if you have understanding! 5 who has set its measurements, for you know? or who has stretched the line on it? 6 on what [are] its bases sunk, or who cast its cornerstone, 7 when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of god shouted for joy? 8 or [who] shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth as it came from the womb? 9 when I made the clouds its robe, and darkness its navel-band, 10 and set my limit on it, and set bars and doors, 11 and I said, you shall come to here, but no further; and here your proud waves shall stop. 12  have you commanded the morning from your days, [and] caused the dawn to know its place, 13 that it might take hold of the ends of the earth; that the wicked might be shaken out of it? 14 it is turned like clay [under] a seal; and they stand forth like a garment.” (Job 38:4-14 MKJV)

“you send forth your spirit, they are created; and you renew the face of the earth.” (Psalms 104:30 MKJV)

“20 and god said, let the waters swarm [with] swarmers [having] a living soul; and let birds fly over the earth on the face of the expanse of the heavens. 21 and god created great sea-animals, and every living soul that creeps [with] which the waters swarmed after their kind; and every winged fowl after its kind. and god saw that [it was] good. 22 and god blessed them, saying, be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters of the seas and let the fowl multiply in the earth.” (Genesis 1:20-22 MKJV)

“24 and god said, let the earth bring forth the living creature after its kind, cattle, and creepers, and its beasts of the earth after its kind; and it was so. 25 and god made the beasts of the earth after its kind, and cattle after their kind, and all creepers upon the earth after their kind. and god saw that it was good.” (Genesis 1:24-25 MKJV)

  • God is not the Creator, claims academic (sott.net)
Professor Ellen van Wolde, a respected Old Testament scholar and author, claims the first sentence of Genesis “in the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth” is not a true translation of the Hebrew.

She claims she has carried out fresh textual analysis that suggests the writers of the great book never intended to suggest that God created the world — and in fact the Earth was already there when he created humans and animals.

  • A Faithful Creator (savedbygraceblogdotcom.wordpress.com)
God is the Faithful Creator in the heavens above and in the earth beneath. We are not surprised, therefore, to find His faithfulness the theme of Holy Writ; but why does Peter lay emphasis on His faithfulness as Creator, when ministering to the special circumstances of suffering believers?

Those are two words which actually don’t fit together. When we use the term “woes” we usually use it in the context of meaning chaos/untidy. “LEEG” on the other hand means empty.
    +
the term “woestyn” popped into my head. A “woestyn” is a desert… a wilderness…. it contains the root word “woes”. So what is a desert?? It’s an extensive area that is barren or empty. I searched the online dictionaries a bit and came up with these terms: uncultivated, uninhabited, inhospitable region, desert, wasteland, wild, a waste, implying lost, unruly, disordered, unable to control, ungoverned, wild savage, neglected, barren, empty, open area as of ocean.
    +
    understanding of the passage:

The earth was not yet cultivated or inhabited, there was disorder. Then God came and created order. He separated the light from the darkness, the waters above from the waters below, the sea from the land and so on and so forth. It is not that the bible is saying the earth was empty and untidy/chaotic. In verse 28 God created man to “bewoon en bewerk”, meaning to inhabit and cultivate.

Ecclesiastes reminds us that if we look at this world outside of God we end up with cynicism.

earthly experience can only be fully enjoyed from heaven’s perspective.
  • Light (thebetterportion.com)
In the Gospel of John, he tells us that God is spirit (John 4:24) and later in 1 John he tells us that God is love (1John 4:8).

John says, ‘God is light and in Him is no darkness at all’.

Macro-evolution is false. Evidences of design are everywhere, and there must be a designer
  • The most offensive verse in the Bible (hipfellows.wordpress.com)
“The most offensive thing I believe is Genesis 1:1, and everything it implies.

“That is, I believe in a sovereign Creator who is Lord and Definer of all. Everything in the universe — the planet, the laws of physics, the laws of morality, you, me — everything was created by Another, was designed by Another, was given value and definition by Another. God is Creator and Lord, and so He is ultimate. That means we are created and subjects, and therefore derivative and dependent.

“Therefore, we are not free to create meaning or value. We have only two options. We can discover the true value assigned by the Creator and revealed in His Word, the Bible; or we can rebel against that meaning.

  • Sentenced to Death, who will redeem him? (cfcspn.com)
On the first day of creation, God put the world in focus, a plan to establish a kingdom on earth. And calling the world out of non-existence, He fashioned it to His liking, setting about it laws by which it is governed. These laws reveal the hand of God, so that man on earth would realize His present operation.

Adam saw God face to face, and he was created in the image of God perfect and complete. It was not until the fall of man God turned away from us, and man was forbidden to look in the face of God.
  • Large Magellanic Cloud (cfcspn.com)
Science may explain the creation process of the universe, but we must never forget, they are not to be used to explain away God. Once we begin to remove God from the creation process, we lose site of what could be known, falling into a world of darkness.

If science was to say, and have said there is no God, it would be impossible for them to explain the coming to existence of the particles and elements that created the world. The Bible clearly shows the word was made from nothing, a power we posses, but only through the authority of God. To everyone who have accepted the reality of God, the Most High, we are given the ability through the power of the Holy Spirit to call into being those things which are not as if they are.

A hidden treasure in the Large Magellanic Cloud
Nearly 200 000 light-years from Earth, the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way, floats in space, in a long and slow dance around our galaxy. Vast clouds of gas within it slowly collapse to form new stars. In turn, these light up the gas clouds in a riot of colours, visible in this image from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope.
